Job Title: Counsel – Legal Technology, Infrastructure & Sourcing - Location: Bangalore A position is available for an information technology and intellectual property lawyer in Deutsche Bank Legal Technology, Infrastructure and Sourcing (TIS) team. The position is based in Bangalore or Mumbai, working regionally with the Legal TIS team based in Bangalore and Singapore, and globally in London, Frankfurt and New York. The successful candidate will assist a number of DB internal business lines including the DB Technology, Data & Innovation (TDI), Procurement, Communications, Third Party Management, and Human Resources divisions, as well as the front office divisions (the “Clients”) advising on information technology, outsourcing and intellectual property matters. The successful candidate will be expected to advise more generally on commercial contracts, data protection, and areas of contract and tort including negligence, the law of confidence, and damages. - Contract reviews and negotiation, locally, as well as rolling out global projects into the APAC region, working with the Clients
- Managing reviews of new technology driven initiatives under jurisdictions around the region (e.g., electronic signatures, communication tools, use of AI, Blockchain etc.)
- Working with the onshore team, researching on, and advising Clients in relation to legal topics and issues around technology and outsourcing regulation, data protection, telecommunications law, intellectual property, contracting, tort, and related areas
- Support in management of legal, regulatory and reputational risk in outsourcing and tech-related transactions, in implementation of new technologies (like digitalisation of banking, big data, mobile banking, cloud computing, AI, Blockchain etc.), and in process implementation across 14 jurisdictions
- Research on topics relevant for Legal - case laws, court decisions, topical subjects
- Regular template updates and knowledge management function
- Support and guidance in respect of intragroup documentation
- Support of review of transactions in the vendor risk management process
- Qualified common law jurisdiction lawyer of at least five years PQE
- Information technology/ intellectual property law/ outsourcing qualifications and/ or experience
- Business fluent English including contract drafting and negotiations
- Excellent experience of negotiating and contract law and ideally some knowledge of how banks operate
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office
- A knowledge of outsourcing transactions and the issues facing an organisation during the lifecycle of such transactions
- Team player with excellent communication skills, vast creativity and capability to “think out of the box” within a regulated environment
- Proactive, motivated, commercial and focused on providing timely and creative and resource-efficient solutions to legal problems
- Experience in working with lawyers across different jurisdictions
- Willingness to learn new areas of competence and an interest to understand and adapt to new technologies and processes and their legal implementation
